  1. My initial impression of Oedipus as a leader was a negative one, because instead of using his own knowledge to deal with things he consulted an oracle. -Vanecia Gordon

  2. My initial impression of Oedipus as a leader is the he was a good leader. He had compassion for the people of Thebes during this terrible time of the plague. He also wanted to do what was best when it came down to the murder of Laios to get revenge over his death even if it caused him his life, if he was found guility of the murder. Ashley F.

  4. My initial impression of Oedipus as a leader was positive because he saved the city from the Sphinx, and he is trying to help the city fight the plague. I also felt that Oedipus was rude to Teiresias, who was just trying to help, but Oedipus just cursed him.

  5. My impression of Oedipus is both positive and negative. Although he seems short tempered and has a tendency to point to others for the murder of the previous king, he claims that he will gladly be executed or exiled from his home if he is deemed unworthy.

  6. My impressions of Oedipus as a leader is both positive and negative. He is a good leader because he seems to want to help thoses in need and he seems to have care and compassion for his people. He is not a good leader because of his attitude and temper. He is fast to get angry and accuse. This makes him a vulnerable target for other people.

  7. My impression of Oedipus was positive. I could tell that his heart was really for the people. He really wants to find the killer of the last king and get rid of the plague; that seems like its going to be a big challenge though.

  9. My initial impression of Oedipus as a leader was positive, given his adamant attitude about punishment for Laïos' killer(s); however, my impression of him has changed because of his odious manner, which has blinded him from the truth.

  10. My first impression of Oedipus as a leader was neutral. Positively,I think that he wants the best for his people and he risks a lot to make sure that they're given his best. Negatively, I think that he's simply too short tempered.

  11. My initial impression of Oedipus as a leader was positive because he has stuck with the city when their leader Laïos was murdered, when they were cursed with the plague, and saved them from the Sphinx. He is also trying to solve the mystery of who killed Laïos.-Aleana Morris

  12. My first impression of Oedipus was that he was a very good leader. He cared about why the Thebans were so upset, and he wanted to fix whatever problem they had to make them feel better. When he heard about the Oracle and learned what he had to do in order to stop the death in Thebes, he immediately went to work, trying to figure out who the murderer of Laios was, and what he was going to do to him. <-------- by Khaylian Leflore

  13. My initial impression of Oedipus as a leader was negative because he is leading a city that is doomed with god's plague. He was ignorant and oblivious of this horrible situation until a priest informed him of this epidemic. Even after being informed, he did not know why the city was being plagued or how to end it. So he had to send the priest to ask the oracle which, to me, showed Oedipus's lack of knowledge and wisdom.

  14. My first impression of Oedipus was that he is arrogant and self centered. He wanted to make sure that he name wasn't being blamed for anything instead of focusing on the real problem at hand which was trying to fnd Laios' murderer. I think he should focus more on trying to help the people rather than beat the people and be ahead of them.

  15. My First Impression of Oedipus was that he was really a caring king that wanted to find out what was really going on. He had tons of questions to find more evidence. Then after a while through the reading I found out he was more concerned about himself then others. He wanted to punish others then the killer that killed Laios. (Joshua Brown)

  17. My initial impression of Oedipus is that he is a positive but arrogant leader. He is willing to sacrifice himself to save his people and the city of Thebes. It seems like he believes in guilt without proof, but at least he is trying to end the plague and discover the murderer of Laius.

  18. My initial impression of Oedipus was that he wasn't a good leader because of the plauge that was spreading throughout his town. he's not doing anything about it and many people are dying because of it. In a way he is a good leader because he only wants the best for his people but has a different way of showing it.--Ariana Bryant

  19. My impression of Oedipus as a leader is that he is a very good leader. He is a good leader because I can tell that he genuinely cares for his people. He shows that he cares by trying to figure out the murderer of Laious to finally end the plague for the Thebans.

  20. My Initial impression of Oedipus as a leader was a positive one. In My Opinion, He exemplified that of a strong leader inquiring on the death of the previous King. He is attempting to attack this problem of the killing as any good leader would to rid his town of such a individual.

  22. My initial impression of Oedipus is that he is a responsible leader. He reacted as soon as he learned of the news of the plague. Also that he is very confident. A king needs confidence to be a good ruler. (Vesper Young)

  23. My initial impression of Odeipus was rude and ill-tempered. I found it very annoying that he was talking to people in a very rude way. It made me think that he was taking advantage of the fact that he is king. As I read on I found that he was a very sensitve man. He wanted to fight off the plague just as bad as his people did and wanted to protect them the best way that he could.
